Lämmin aurinkoinen aamu Kalámpakassa. 
Tänään tutustumme Meteoran luostareihin joiden rakentaminen on alkanut jo 1300-luvulla, luostarit on rakennettu kalliopylväiden päälle munkkien suojapaikoiksi turkkilaisten valloitettua Thessalian alueen.
Jätimme vaatekassit hotellin respaan ja lähdimme ajamaan luostareille. Ensimmäinen pysähdys pyhän Nikolaus Anapafsasin luostariin jonne hotellin respan mukaan olisi vain 100 porrasta kiivettävä.
Pitänee kyllä paikkansa mutta siinä ei ollut huomioitu luostarin lähelle vievää jyrkkää ajotietä joka oli myös kiivettävä. Välillä piti huilia ja hikeä pukkasi oikein urakalla.

Tämä oli kiipeämisen arvoista, hieno pienehkö munkkiluostari kallion huipulla.
Ja mitkä näköalat.

Ihastelimme hetken aikaa luostarin hienoja tiloja, kiipesimme kallion huipulle ja sitten takaisin alas. Jätimme väliin alueen suurimman luostarin ja pari muutakin joihin olisi joutunut kiipeämään oikein urakalla. Kävimme vielä isossa Pyhän Stefanoksen nunnaluostarissa joka tosin oli täynnä turisteja.

Seuraavaksi takaisin hotellille hakemaan sinne jätetyt tavarat ja suunta pohjoiseen Thessalonikiin. Tavaroiden jättämiselle oli toki tekninen syy, oli paljon mukavampaa laittaa painavat ajovarusteet lukittuihin sivulaukkuihin kuin kantaa niitä mukana luostari kierroksella.

Thessaloniki on Kreikan toiseksi suurin kaupunki, joten emme yrittäneetkään ajaa keskustaan vaan majoittauduimme kaupungin laidalla olevaan hotelliin. Kävelimme vähän ympäristössä jossa oli kymmeniä kiinalaisten vienti ja tuonti yritysten kauppoja joissa myytiin tukussa ja vähittäin kaikkea mahdollista Kiinassa valmistettua tavaraa.
Illalla kävimme syömässä lähistöllä olevassa pihviravintolassa.
Taas oli hyvää ruokaa.

Beef restaurant

Warm sunny morning at Kalámpaka. 
Today we are visiting monasteries of Meteora, building of them started already at 1300s.
The monastery's  have been build on top of huge stone pillars to protect monks as the Turkish conquered the are of Thessalia.
We left our luggage at the reception of hotel and rode to the monasteries.
First stop at the monastery of holy Nikolaus Anapafsas.
According to the information we got from the helpful receptionist there would be only 100 stairs to be climbed but probably he forgot to mention the steep uphill driving road...
We were sweating and had to stop a couple of time to balance heart beat.
Anyway it was worth of it, a small monk monastery on top of the rock.
And what a scenery.

We admired for a while the interior of the monastery, climbed at to top of the rock and then back down. We skipped the biggest monastery of the area and a couple others as there would have been really a lot of stairs to climb.
So we visited yet the big nunnery of holy Stefanos. 
Only it was crowded by tourists.

Next back to hotel to pick up our luggage. This had of course a technical reason. It was much more comfortable to have our riding clothes in locked side-boxes during climbing to monasteries that to carry them with us.
Then we headed north to Thessaloniki.

Thessaloniki is the second biggest city in Greece so we did not even try to ride in to the center but had a hotel in uptown. We walked around where there were several Chinese wholesale import/export magazines having weathering between earth and sky all manufactured in China.    
In the evening we had supper in a close by beef restaurant and once again really tasty.
