Sumuinen aamu San Marinossa.

Ajoimme vuorelta alas Riminille ja jatkoimme pohjoiseen kohti Venetsiaa.

Italiassa raskas liikenne näyttää välttelevän maksullisia moottoriteitä ja siten muut tiet ruuhkaantuvat eikä liikenne etene rajoitusten mukaisesti.
Venetsiaan emme poikenneet vaan ohitimme sen päätietä pitkin.
Slovenian rajan ylitimme Triesten lähellä ja pysyimme pienemmillä teillä jotta ei tarvinnut ostaa vinjettiä.
Kroatiassa ajoimme suoraan Rijekan keskustaan  ja pysäköimme rantakadulle kahvilan eteen. Kahvilassa aloin etsiä majapaikkaa, mutta Trivago näytti vapaana olevan vain hostelleja. Seuraavaksi katsoimme nettihaulla mitä majoituspaikkoja lähistöllä olisi ja kävelin Mikan kanssa lähimpään. Täynnä oli, mutta respan tyttö merkitsi meille kartaan mitä mahdollisia paikkoja olis lähistöllä. Kävelimme seuraavaan josta saimme huoneet, tosin kalliimmat kuin mitä olin budjetoinut. Rijekassa on kuulemma jokin konferenssi joten kaikki hotellit ovat täynnä. Niin tai näin, tärkeintä oli saada katto pään päälle.
Illallisella kävimme läheisessä ravintolassa ja kokemuksesta viisastuneena varasin huoneet seuraavaksi yöksi Mostarista. Hintataso siellä on täysin erilainen.
Huomiseksi on luvassa pitkä päivä Kroatian rannikkoa pitkin.

Foggy morning in San Marino.
We rode down from the mountain to Rimini and headed north to Venice.

In Italy the heavy traffic seems to avoid paid highways and so other roads are jammed and moving on slowly.
We did not visit Venice but just passed it on main highway.
The border of Slovenia we crossed close to city of Trieste and did not use the highway to avoid buying vinjet.
In Croatia we rode directly to the center of Rijeka and parked at the beach street in front of a cafe. At cafe I started to find a hotel but close to us there were only a couple hostel vacant according to Trivago. Next we looked using google map hotels close to us, Mika and me walked to nearest one. It was full but the helpful girl at the reception marked on a map possible hotels at near by. We walked to next one, got rooms just more expensive what I had budgeted but anyway a bed and shower.
We heard that there was some conference in Rijeka so all hotels were fully booked.
We went for supper to a close by restaurant and based on days experience I booked rooms for next night right away. At least the price level in Mostar is totally different.
For tomorrow we'll had a long day riding coast line of Croatia.

Helena ja Pekka saapuivat hotellille illalla ja kävimme yhdessä syömässä lähellä olevassa Sushi ravintolassa. Päivä oli ollut aika pitkä ja unta ei tarvinnut houkutella.

Aamulla ajoimme taksilla Niinivirran terminaalille noutamaan pyöriämme. 
Onneksi yöllinen sade oli tauonnut ja pyörien purku pihalla sujui ongelmitta eikä kuljetuksessa ollut mitään vaurioita.
Pihalla tapasimme Sauvolaisen pariskunnan tuomassa pyöräänsä paluukuljetukseen. He olivat olleet kiertelemässä Italiaa, Sloveniaa ja Kroatiaa. Maisemat ja tiet saivat kehuja mutta sää ei ollut ollut suosiollinen.

Ready for new country stickers

Lähdimme ajamaan suorinta tietä kohti ensimmäistä etappiamme, Lamborghinin museoa lähellä Modenaa. Moottoritie liikenne sujui vaihtelevasti, välillä sujuvasti, välillä ruuhkat seisauttivat liikenteen. Sadekin alkoi uudelleen ja jouduimme pitämään sadevarustus tauon sillan alla jolloin paikallinen poliisi pysähtyi kysymään, onko kaikki ok. Hyvin olivat kohteliaita ja avuliaita.

Museossa tuli käytyä juuri oikeaan aikaan, sade yltyi rankaksi mutta ei kestänyt pitkään.
Museokäynnin jälkeen lounas viereisessä kahvilassa josta olisi saanut vuokrata Lamborghinin koeajolle alkaen 150€ / 15 min. Ehkä  joskus toisella kertaa.

Matka jatkui pienempiä teitä pitkin Ravennan ja Riminin kautta San Marinoon ajaen vanhaa tietä niin ylös kuin pääsi. 
Hotellimme Hotel Rosa sijaitsee kävelyalueella mutta hotellin lupalapulla saimme pyörät autotalliin yöksi.
Hotelli on mukava ja pieni, palvelu erinomaista ja huoneet siistejä. Ehdottomasti suosittelen.
Illalla sää oli sumuinen joten kävimme vain syömässä ja tarrakaupoilla.

Helena and Pekka arrived to hotel later at night and we went together to a near by restaurant to have sushi. The day had been long so there was no problem to get asleep.

At the morning we took a taxi to Niinivirta terminal outside the town to pick up our bikes.
Luckily the night rain had stopped and unloading the bikes at the yard went without problems and there was no damages during the transport.
At the yard we met a couple from Sauvo that brought their bike to be transported back to Finland. They had been riding in Italy, Slovenia and Croatia. They liked a lot of sceneries and roads but the weather had not been nice.

We started to ride the shortest way to our first target, the museum of Lamborghini close to city of Modena. Riding at highway was partly fast and partly jams almost stopped the traffic.
The rain started again so we had to stop under a bridge to wear rain suits. Local policemen stopped to ask if everything was ok. They were really helpful and polite.
We stopped to museum right on time as the rain was heavy but luckily thaty did not last long.
After the museum we walked to the across the street to a cafe to have lunch. They had two Lamborghini for rent for a test drive but as 15 min would have cost 150 Euro we desided to that some other time.

We continued riding smaller roads via Ravenna and Rimini to San Marino riding old road so far up as possible.
Hotel Rosa is located in walking area but with hotel permission card we rode our bikes to hotel basement garage for the night.
The hotel was small but cozy, excellent service and clean rooms. I can recommend.
In the evening the weather was foggy so we went only to eat and to buy stickers.

Maanantai aamuna hyvin aikainen ylösnousu, junalla Helsinkiin ja pääkonttorille palaveriin.
Yöunet jäivät sattuneesta syystä hieman lyhyiksi mutta oli se sen arvoista.
Hienoa Leijonat!
Tapasin Mikan iltapäivällä Helsingin rautatieasemalla ja nopeasti teimme päätöksen olla menemättä Kaisaniemeen vaikka tilaisuus olikin ainutlaatuinen.
Sen sijaan hyppäsimme bussin ja ajoimme Sokos hotelli Flamingoon mistä olin saanut Sokotelin ja hotellinjohtaja Päivi Holapan suosiollisella avustuksella majoituksen uudessa Wing siivessä. 
Suuret kiitokset Päiville!
Flamingo on laajennuksen jälkeen Suomen suurin hotelli ja laajennusosan huoneet ovat todella hienoja.

Eipä tule tämän reissun aikana varmasti vastaan yhtä hyvää majoitusta.

Tämän päälle maistui sauna ja olut 😄
Aamiasen jälkeen matkustimme herroiksi bussilla (kyydissä vain Mika ja minä) lentokentälle
ja Finnairin Airbusilla lento Pariisiin. Laskeutuessamme salama iski koneeseen kaksi kertaa, näin jopa välähdyksen. Laskeutuminen sujui hyvin muttakapteeni ilmoitti että kone tarkastetaan kuitenkin ennen paluulentoa Helsinkiin.
Jatko Milanoon meni ilman ongelmia, kentältä junalla keskustaan, pari aseman väliä metrolla ja lyhyt kävely hotellille.
Nyt odottelemme Helenaa ja Pekkaa saapuviksi, heidän lentonsa joutui kääntymään kohta lähdön jälkeen takaisin Helsinkiin koneessa ilmenneen teknisen vian vuoksi. Saivat kuitenkin uuden lennon samalle päivälle.
Aika tapahtumarikas alku ollut reissullamme.

Monday morning really early wake up, train to Helsinki and morning meeting and company head office.
For a good reason last nigh sleep was short but it was worth of it!
Congratulations to Finnish hockey team of winning world championship.
I met Mika in the afternoon at Helsinki railway station and after a quick thinking we desided not to go to Hakaniemi park where the hockey team met their fans later that day.
Instead we took a bus to Sokos hotel Flamingo where I had got a room in brand new part of the hotel called Wing by the help of Sokotel company and hotel director Päivi Holappa.
Great thanks to Päivi.
Now Flamingo is the biggest hotel in Finland and the rooms of Wing are really great.
I'm sure that during this year ride we do not get similar hotel room.
We looked at TV direct program from hockey team and saw president of Finland, Mr Sauli Niinistö congratulating the team. Really great.

After that sauna of hotel room with beer was  fine.
In the morning we rode by bus to airport and flew first to Paris.
Just when the plane was landing thunder flash hit our plane twice but the landing went fine.
Captain informed that anyway the plane will be checked properly before flying back to Helsinki.
Flight to Milan had no surprises and from airport we took first train to city center, then metro and finally a short walk to hotel.
Now we are waiting Helena and Pekka to come to hotel as their plane had to turn back to Helsinki soon after take off as there was a technical problem.
Luckily they managed to get another flight for the same day.
So we have had a really lot of happenings for the start of or ride.

Eilinen aamu valkeni harmaana ja hieman ripotteli vettä lähtiessäni ajamaan kohti Vantaata ja Niinivirran terminaalia.
Onneksi sää selkeni pian ja matka sujui osin aurinkoisessa säässä. Hyvä niin, ei tarvinnut tunkea kosteita ajaovarusteita pyörän laukkuihin.
Perillä Vantaalla Mika jo odottelikin ja eikun pyörät halliin ja kiinnittämään kuljetustelineisiin.
Niinivirralla on hyvät tarkoitukseen suunnitellut telineet joihin pyörät saa tukevasti kiinni ja vielä vähän muovia päälle koristeeksi niin tuli valmista.
Rekka lähtee perjantaina kohti Milanoa ja ensi keskiviikkona pääsemme noutamaan pyörämme Milanon terminaalista ja suuntaamaan kohti San Marinoa.

Yesterday morning was grey and some light rain as i started to ride towards Vantaa and terminal of Niinivirta.
Luckily the weather cleared up and I was riding mainly in a sunny day. That was fine as it would not been nice to pack wet riding clothes to my bike boxes.
At Vantaa Mika was already waiting for me so we rode right in to the hall at started to bind our bikes to racks. Transportation company has specially designed racks where it's easy to bind the bikes tight and just to add some plastic to make it smooth.
The truck leaves of Friday to Milan Italy and we will pick our bikes on next Wednesday and start to ride towards San Marino

15.15.2019

Kesän reissu lähenee, Suzukin kevät huolto on tehty ja tätä kirjoittaessani pyörä on eturenkaan vaihdossa. Edelliselle kumille kertyi kilometrejä 12500 ja vaikka pintaa on vielä jäljellä reilusti niin sillä ei olisi päässyt tämän kesän reissua ilman ongelmia.
2017 Andorrasta ostamani actionkamera on löytänyt paikkansa pyörän tuulisuojasta ja Alibaba toimitti uudet akut joten videota ja ajotilanne kuvia on ehkä mahdollista nähdä myöhemmin tässä blogissa.
Ensi viikolla ohjelmassa on pyörien vienti Niinivirralle Vantaalle josta ne matkaavat rekan kyydissä Italiaan Milanoon.
Pekka, Helena, Mika ja minä lennämme sinne seuraavalla viikolla jolloin tämän kesän matkamme varsinaisesti alkaa.  
Vakio porukkaan kuuluva Jorma Harley-Davidsonillaan ei tällä kertaa päässyt mukaan mutta on jo luvannut lähteä elokuussa Jänkhälle Jytisemään.
Tarkoituksena on käydä aluksi San Marinossa ja sitten kaikissa Balkanin niemimaan valtioissa, ehkä pikavisiitti myös Turkkiin ja palata Suomeen ennen Juhannusta.
Kuten ennenkin, reittisuunnitelma on alustava eikä majoituksia ole juurikaan varailtu lukuunottamatta paria ensimmäistä yötä.
Alustavan kaavailun mukaan kilometrejä tulee noin 6000 ja aikaa kuluu 3 viikkoa

Time to start this year bike tour is really close, Suzuki has been serviced and now while I'm writing this it's having front tire been replaced. previous one lasted 12500 kilometers and even though there is a lot of tread left it would hardly last this year tour without problems, so its time to have a new one.
Action camera that I bought 2017 from Andorra has finally found its place screwed to windscreen and as Alibaba delivered new batteries, its possible to see some videos and on board still photos later in this blog.
Next week task is to drive our bikes to Vantaa to Niinivirta European cargo terminal to be transferred to Italy Milan.
Week after that Pekka, Helena, Mika and I will fly to Milan and our tour of this year really starts. Jorma with his Harley Davidson was not able to take part of this tour but he already promised to ride with us on August to Lapland to annual "Jänkhällä Jytisee" biking event. 
Our target is to visit first San Marino and then every country of Balkan peninsula, maybe also Turkey (really short visit) and drive back to Finland before Midsummer day.
As always I have done only preliminary route plan and booked hotels only for first two nights.
Preliminary estimation of this route is 6000 km and three weeks
